Demaun
- Male
- age 7
- African American
DeMaun has a fondness for music and anything that lights up.
The purpose of the information provided below is to briefly introduce you to the child for whom our agency is recruiting an adoptive placement.
DeMaun is a remarkable boy. He has dark brown eyes and short brown hair. Despite not being capable of verbalizing his wants and/or needs, he can truly express his happiness. Although it may be a little raspy, he can giggle like any other child his age. He has a fondness for music and anything that lights up. Although he is legally blind, he can pick up light movements.
DeMaun is a very cheerful, funny little guy. He loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. He is good with the other little kids in the home. He is very social and will greet you at the door, take your hand and walk you around the house. He likes to run and be active. He also likes to rock in his favorite rocking chair. He is attending a specialized school for developmentally disabled children. DeMaun receives early childhood special education services four days a week. During the school day he also receives speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and orientation and mobility for one hour each week. DeMaun's teacher states that "he is a joy to have in class."
DeMaun is a true fighter; he spent the majority of his first year of life in the hospital. He has come a long way in the last year. He will need a family that can meet his many medical needs now and any that may arise in the future. He needs a family that can provide structure and a routine for him. A family that has a great deal of compassion and understanding of his medical needs would be ideal. They will also need to keep up with his many medical appointments and to continue with his therapies. DeMaun is not legally free for adoption; Termination of Parental Rights is underway.
